He attended Lincoln High School and while there, joined the Navy Reserve in 1957. He graduated in 1959, and after a short period of time working for the City of Lincoln, went into active duty with the Navy. Bruce traveled to 21 different countries during his enlistment. In October of 1977, he married his current wife, Sheryl (Brennan) Wright. After retirement from the BNSF and because he loved old cars, he spent a few years volunteering at the Museum of Speed as a docent. As his health declined, he spent more of his time tinkering in his workshop at home.
Bruce had been a long-time member of the VFW Post #3606 of Lincoln and the American Legion Post #355 of Denton, having held offices in both organizations. He was also a long-time member of the Rebels Auto Club of Lincoln and had held the position of President several years ago. During the Spring, Summer, and Fall, he enjoyed attending car shows in Lincoln and the surrounding community in his 1955 Chevy Delray.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kenneth. He is survived by his wife Sheryl, his daughters Lori Wright (Tina Dzula) and Michelle (Todd) Zeilinger, stepsons John Evasco and Lance (Nadyne) Evasco, his sister Rebecca (Ronald) Zimmerman, and grandchildren Scott (Amber), Alec (Allyssa) Zeilinger, Emily (Jay) Snell, Lydia and and Renate Evasco, also 6 great-grandchildren, several cousins, many friends and his best buddy Pepper.
