Allen (Al) Voge was born November 9, 1944 in Alta, Iowa to Walter and Geneva Voge of rural Galva, Iowa. He was raised on the Voge Family Farm Northwest of Galva along with his six siblings. He attended the Galva Community School and completed his high school education there. He and Jyl Miller were married on October 21, 1988. He passed away January 9, 2018 after a short illness.
After Al graduated from Galva High School he attended the University of Iowa where he received a BS degree in chemistry. He then went on to attend the University of North Dakota as graduate student. During this time his career path changed as he started working as a Systems Programmer at Centel Corporation and later worked for the State of Nebraska until his retirement.
Al was a good man, a plain and simple man, who will be missed by all that knew him. He was a man of few words, but when he chose to speak, it was worth listening to what he had to say. Al was a past member of the Aksarben Curling Club, Izaak Walton League, and Men's Senior Golf League. He enjoyed being a host parent for the Lincoln Stars for 5 years.
Family members cherishing his memory include his wife Jyl; sister Karen (Carroll) Perkins Jefferson, IA; brothers Gerald Voge Cherokee, IA, Pat (Anne) Voge Iowa Falls, IA, Paul (Lois) Voge Galva, IA; sisters-in-law Cindy Els, Peg (Gary) Bernard, Becky Brown all of Benkelman, NE; a host of nieces and nephews, many extended family members including the Bryan Lundbohm Family of Roseau, MN.
Al was preceded by his parents Walter and Geneva Voge; parents-in-law Eugene and Ilene Miller; brothers William Voge and Dennis Voge; sisters-in-law Debbie Voge and Laura Voge; brother-in-law Richard Els; niece Patricia Voge; and nephews Daniel Voge and Philip Voge. He will be missed by his many friends.
Al's body will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
Dress is casual and a luncheon will follow the service.
