Bessie L. Austin (Mrs. Austin) 90, of Lima, died at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 8, 2015 at her residence. She was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Itta Bena, Miss. To Willie and Bessie Williams who preceded her in death. She married John Edmond Austin, Sr., who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Austin retired as a homemaker. She was a member of Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church where she was the Past President of the Nurse’s Aide and served on the Pastor Committee.
Survivors include two sons: John (Madga) Austin, Jr. and Ivory L. Austin; two daughters: Mae (Otto) Barcus and Venista Austin all of Lima; plus a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Victor H. Austin, Sr.; two daughters, Rosie Lee Austin and Mamie Marie Austin; and two brothers, Edmond Davis and Henry Bennett.
Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with Pastor Robert Toney officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time service at the funeral home.
