Valerie Rodriguez, 63, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2023. Valerie was born to Donald Wetherbee and Lorraine Doerr Wetherbee on March 9, 1960. Valerie grew up in Long Island, NY, and settled permanently in Lilburn, GA.
Valerie made lasting impressions on all who knew her. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humor, her big heart, her endearing love of babies and children, and her desire to help the less fortunate. As a young mother, Valerie served as a missionary in Guatemala for three years, specifically dedicated to caring for orphans. While living in NY, Valerie faithfully fed the homeless in NYC for years and sought opportunities to improve the lives of those who were suffering. In her later years, her struggles with mental health cast a darker cloud over her life. But she became fiercely independent and lived by her own rules. She went back to school to further her education and started her own successful home-based business. She treasured any time that she could spend with her grandchildren and extended family.
Valerie is survived by her five cherished children, Evan Rodriguez, Rosa Rodriguez, Jessica Rodriguez, Natalie Barrett, and Joey Rodriguez, her devoted siblings Jane Wetherbee, Marygrace Navarro, Brenda Wright, and Donald Wetherbee Jr., eight precious grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews, and her fur baby Lizzy.
Please join us in celebrating Valerie’s life on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Luxomni Baptist Church, 175 Luxomni Road NW Lilburn, GA 30047. Visitation with the family is at 1 pm with the memorial service following at 2 pm.
