Oh wow. She had been on my mind  for a long time. Dr. Garvin was an awesome teacher when she taught at College of New Rochelle. Tough as nails but she made sure that we were on point as students before we went on to the next and final class. Sleep on Dr. Garvin. Rest well.

I was a nursing student of Dr. Garvin  Supris at Emory university. She taught us so much! She tough, yet supportive. She helped to set the foundation for many in nursing. I’m so grateful for all she gave us. May she rest in perfect peace. 

I hired and worked with Mary at the school of nursing at Emory University.  She was an enthusiastic , creative, kind, caring and considerate teacher and colleague.  Students appreciated her teaching style and the sense of mutual  respect she modeled so well. She will surely be missed by all whose lives she touched.

I still remember the first time I met Mary. She was personable and I felt as if we had known each other forever. We did not talk all the time, but we always managed to pick up as if we had spoken the day before. I am so thankful for your love and friendship. I will miss you dearly.

My heart is saddened at the news of Mary's passing. We spent our most formidable years as classmates and friends at Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn, NY and Stony Brook University/ Nursing in Stony Brook, NY. We were 2 of the first 4 Blacks to graduate from the RN Nursing program.  Mary was a free spirit, always speaking her mind and believed that everyone should be treated fairly . She was kind, helpful and patient.  Even though we loss contact several years after graduation , I will always remember the time we shared.  Renald ,children and family , my deepest condolence for your loss & may God keep you in perfect peace 🎈

Mary was a classmate at Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn, New York.  



What a wonderful woman to have known!! Her strength and grace shined brightly. 
Family, though the body of Mary has gone on, the embodiment of Mary will live on inside each of you. Call on her whenever you need her and her spirit will comfort and guide you. Rejoice in her home-going for she has gone to prepare a place for you!!! Gloria Smith-Donkor
