Tommy cherished his role as a grandfather above all, finding immense joy in spending time with his family. He had a passion for fishing and golf, enjoying countless peaceful mornings on the water and on the course with his son and close friends. For over 20 years, he dedicated his time and talent to coaching basketball for Liberty Parks and Recreation, inspiring countless young athletes with his wisdom, patience, and unwavering support. Tommy's kindness, dedication, and infectious love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was the son of the late Franklin and Jo Ann Turpin Haithcox; and was also preceded in death by one brother, Harvey Haithcox.
Surviving is his daughter, Jessica Rousseau and husband, François; son, Thomas Wayne Haithcox and wife, Shanna; grandchildren, Trinity Jessup, Peyton Jessup, Caden Haithcox, Émile Rousseau, and Aymeric Rousseau; brothers, Joseph Haithcox and Daniel Haithcox and wife, Kendra; nephew, Fisher Haithcox; significant other, Lori Turner; and mother of his children, Kimberly Haithcox (Charlie Sorrell).
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, 212 W. Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC. He will be laid to rest in Liberty Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their most heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Garth S. Herbert and his staff at Duke Raleigh Hospital and the nurses and staff at Randolph Hospice House for their compassionate care shown to Tommy during his illness.
