A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Liberty with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Simon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and child of God. He lived his dream farming over the years. Simon raised cows, chickens, tobacco and other field crops with the help of his wife and family. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church, serving as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, cemetery committee and in many other capacities. Simon was the last remaining member of the fishouse gang and had many, many friends within the Pleasant Hill community which he called home his entire life. He was quick to tell everyone he met that Pleasant Hill was the “garden spot of the world”. He loved to farm and enjoyed working outside his whole life. Simon and Betty loved to play golf together at Sourwood Golf Course which was also in the Pleasant Hill community.
Simon and fellow farmers and friends met nightly at the local store for years. His oldest son, Michael, later bought the store and continues to own and operate Teague Farm & Market where you could find Simon daily visiting with neighbors, family and friends.
Simon was loved by all who knew him especially his wife, children and grandchildren. As his health began to decline, his trust in God’s faithfulness never did. One of his final messages we will never forget was “BEHOLD, THE HAND OF THE LORD”.
Simon was the son of the late Lewis Henry Teague and Mollie Hornaday Teague. He leaves behind to cherish his memory the love of his life, wife of 61 years, Betty Lindley Teague; two sons, Michael Teague (Tina) and Joe Teague (Amy); one daughter, Karen Poe; eight dearly beloved grandchildren, Mollie Teague, Scottie Teague, Meghan Teague, Gavin Teague (Hannah), Claire Teague, Julia Teague, Zachary Poe and Madison Poe; one great-grandchild, Evelyn; brother, Bill Teague (Garrinette) and sister, Gail Teague Moore (Ronnie), and nephews, Billy Teague, Chris Moore and Nick Moore.
