Reid Dickson "RD" Bowman

RD proudly served his country with the Intelligence Division in the US Army.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Julian United Methodist Church with Rev. Melissa Swofford, Rev. Tom Jolly and Rev. Manuel Wortman officiating; burial will follow in Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Julian United Methodist Church following the burial.

Since the age of 12, RD was raised by his late Uncle Noah and Aunt Ethel Hester who preceded him in death. He was the son of the late Arthur and Neva Hester Bowman and was also preceded in death by one sister, Dezzie Mae Mehler and three brothers, Robert Lee Bowman, Colon Bowman and Jerry Bowman.

RD is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Betty Covington Bowman; three sisters, Hazel Kimrey, Rachel Thomas and Orpha Wiseman; two brothers, Jake Bowman and Lacy Bowman and a host of friends, nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Julian United Methodist Church, PO Box 35, Julian, NC 27283 or to the charity of your choice.
