She was born on October 13, 1939 in Staley, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Jerome Franklin Wright and Edith Gunter Wright. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Staley, North Carolina. Preceding her in death are her brothers, Allen Wright and Wayne Wright, and sister, Iris Bowman.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 36 years, Joseph "Joe" Wesley Cuthbertson; sons, Danny Cooper and Jimmy Cooper (Melissa); sisters, Sylvia Jean Martin and Kay Bowman (Jesse); aunt, Elsie Hicks; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. She also leaves behind her special friend, Robin Edwards McCall, and her son, Cody Edwards, who Barbara practically raised.
Before her illness, she was an excellent homemaker and cook/baker. Her oatmeal creme cookies were a huge hit everywhere she shared them. Barbara's smile and friendship with many will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 7103 Sandy Creek Church Road, Staley, NC. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation following the service in the church fellowship hall.
