George R. Jones, Jr. age 76, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born December 10, 1947, the son of George Jones, Sr. and Dorothy Marie Jones. He was preceded in death by his dad and a brother, Lawrence Jones.
George confessed his love for Christ at an early age. He went to school in Liberty, MO, but graduated from High School from Crispus Attucks in Indianapolis, Indiana. George was blessed with a great ability to play sports - he was a top hitter in baseball, one of the fastest in track, played basketball, and was one of the best football players to play in Liberty, MO.
George attended college for a time in Wisconsin and while there, he did radio and television and had a show called the Black Awareness, in which he was the producer and director, and his cousin, Perry Monroe was the host.
George had many jobs in his life, from teaching sign language to the deaf, which was probably his most gratifying position, to driving a truck in the Indiana and Chicago area, plus many more job experiences.
He leaves behind those who will miss and cherish him, two daughters, Aretha Gillis of California, and Billy Goodface of Kansas City, MO; his step-daughter, Bobbi Jo Goodface of Kansas City, KS; two brothers, Clifford Jones of Independence, MO, Emanuel "Doug" Jones of Liberty, MO; one sister, Arlene Clark of Independence, MO; his mother, Dorothy Marie Jones, at the grand age 96, of Independence, MO; four granddaughters and one grandson, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
