Virginia Chaplin Newman, 74, of Lexington, wife of the late Joseph Elliot Newman, was born July 12, 1947 in Columbia, SC and passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022. She was the daughter of Ryan Alton and Maddie Nadine Chaplin.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and the Lake Murray Powerboat Squadron. Her hobbies included spoiling her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles, Life 360 aka “the stalker app”, #Favorite, watching the Golden Girls and Little House on the Prairie with Case, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Pam Schexnider (David), Jody Newman (Christie), Rosalin Sturkie (Vince) and Ryan Newman (Michelle); grandchildren, Meredith Fincher, Blake Saxon, Malarie Schexnider, Della Newman, TJ Newman, Case Sturkie and Ellie Rae Newman and brother, Thomas Chaplin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25 at the funeral home.
