Sandra L. Powell

LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Sandra L. Powell, 75, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Red Bank Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Ms. Powell was born on February 24, 1941 in Columbia, SC and passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. She was the daughter of Harold H. Powell and Betty Harmon Powell. Ms. Powell was a teacher at Pelion High School for five years and at Spring Valley High School for 25 years. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, and Gamecock fan, as well as a life-long member and faithful nursery worker through generations of families at Red Bank Baptist Church. Smart and caring, she never had children of her own, but devoted her life to every child she encountered, especially her nephews, niece, cousins and so many others helping in any way she could.

Ms. Powell is survived by her mother, Betty Harmon; sister, Dale Holsinger; brother, Butch Powell (Susan); nephews, Rob Powell (Jamie) and Josh Powell (Allison); five great nephews and one great niece. She is predeceased by her father, Buddy Powell.
