Patricia M. Burton

Patricia Mary Burton, Patsy to her family, and Pat to her many friends, passed away Saturday December 2, 2023, with family lovingly by her side. She was born March 16, 1942 to William Edward and Effie Iveson Burton. She grew up in Ninety Six, SC in her grandmother’s home. She graduated from Ninety Six High School and attended Columbia College where she enjoyed her studies, activities and social events.

Patsy retired from a career working for the State of South Carolina, ready to begin her next adventure of enjoying life to the fullest. She loved her family and friends and spent a great deal of time assisting her cousin, Jody, in Atlanta, GA. She handled the Atlanta traffic like a mad taxi driver so anyone riding with her just hung on. Patsy had a heart of gold and was the life of any party. Her good humor and generous spirit touched everyone she met. She loved to shop and could outlast all of her younger cousins. Patsy truly enjoyed decorating her home and spent lots of time working in her yard creating a peaceful paradise.

We are grateful for the time we had with Patsy and she will be forever cherished and remembered. She was predeceased by her parents, and is survived by many close cousins. Her service will be held at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 119 N. Church Street on December 6, 2023 at 2:30 PM. Visitation will be in the church social hall at 1:30 PM. Burial will immediately follow the service at the family cemetery on Burton Drive in Monetta, SC.

There will be a Celebration of Life hosted by her friends on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 514 Augusta Street, West Columbia, SC.
