IRMO – Neil Manhar Patel, 38, died March 19, 2021. Born in Pontiac, MI, he was the son of Manhar and Gira Patel. He graduated from Chapin High School where he played basketball and where he was famously called “Chief” and was called “Basketball God”.
Surviving are his parents of Irmo; brother, Nihar of Greenville, SC; nephew, Jag and sister-in-law, Olivia; grandfather seven aunts, six uncles, many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his cousin, Ravi Patel and uncle, Arun Patel.
Neil worked at Gira Steel as Plant Supervisor and loved working alongside his co-workers. He was an organ donor and has touched many lives by providing hope to live a meaningful life to those who received his organs.
The family is ever so grateful to the staff of medical ICU and ER at Lexington Medical Center for the care provided during his stay.
Funeral services are coordinated by Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be held on March 26, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. A private funeral service will be held on March 27, 2021 for family.
Family and friends will gather for a celebration of his life on Saturday March 27th between 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Gira Steel, 841 Williams Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
