Columbia – A Celebration of Life Service for LTC Nathaniel “Nat” Olmstead Whitlaw Jr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd, Irmo, SC 29063. The family will receive guests after the service in the church fellowship hall. A private burial will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.
Nat was born November 22, 1937 in Augusta, GA. He went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy F. Whitlaw, brother, David D. Whitlaw, and his parents, Nathaniel O. and Octavia D. Whitlaw. He is survived by his treasured sons, Nathaniel “Nate” O. Whitlaw III (Stephanie) of Millersville, MD and Troy B. Whitlaw of Columbia, SC and three cherished granddaughters, Sheila, Kyla and Grace Whitlaw. Nat, a dedicated father and Department of Army soldier, committed his life to the giving of himself to his family and his country. He was a devoted soldier who served in the military and retired as a LT Colonel after 22 years of selfless service. He was also a dedicated supporter of Clemson University after graduating with a BS Degree in Textile Manufacturing and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He volunteered his time to the Riverland Hills CRC class and the local chapter of the Gideons. Nat enjoyed traveling, attending and watching Clemson football, and hunting and fishing with his boys.
