Born in Anderson County on March 20, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Theo Day and Gertrude Massey Day. She grew up in Walhalla, SC, in a big, loving family as the youngest of 10 children.
Mona married Wilton Howell Davis, Jr., of Columbia, SC. They had two children: a daughter, Dawn Renea Davis, and a son, David Rickard Davis.
Mona was retired from Allied Chemical Corporation.
She enjoyed reading, shopping, country music, and loved her dog, Willie. Mona will be remembered for her sense of humor and the love she had for her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Addie Mae Mosley, Louise McClain, Gladell Massey, Ruth Norris, Bonnie Sue Holmes; brothers, Roy Ledford Day, James Edward (Buddy) Day, and Donald Ray Day; former husband, Wilton Howell Davis, Jr. and her son, David Rickard Davis.
Surviving are her sister, Christine (Richard) King of Anderson, SC; daughter, Dawn Renea Davis; stepsons, Wilton Howell Davis III of Clarksville, TN, and Thomas Robert Davis of Bluffton, SC; granddaughters, Kassie Carmean, Savannah (Drew) Doughty, and Summer (Zach) Rasler; great grandchildren, Benton Hollingsworth, Breckan and Bellamy Rasler, and Leighton Doughty; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
The family will be holding a private memorial service at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Humane Society South Carolina or to her disabled daughter, Dawn Davis, as she navigates this new chapter in life.
