Melinda Maree Frye (Meme), 41, of West Columbia, SC, passed away on October 6, 2024, after a hard and long battle with Stage III Cervical Cancer, and pneumonia. Born on December 4, 1982, to Marion Wade Frye Sr. and Tosha Elizabeth Maree Sharpe in West Columbia, Melinda was a loving mother, sister, aunt, granddaughter, grandmother, and friend. For the majority of her life, she lovingly cared for the children of family and friends, forming close bonds that enriched her life and the lives of those around her.
Melinda had a passion for cooking, fishing, and making others laugh. She cherished her time with loved ones, whether preparing a meal or simply playing games while sitting at the kitchen table. She also loved watching drama’s and listening to music while getting ready. Her kindness and vibrant spirit touched
everyone around her. In her final days, Melinda was surrounded by love and care in hospice, with her
fiancé, Christopher Reddick; her daughter, Kayla Spire; and her dear friend, Tammie Shealy, by her side. Their support and presence brought her comfort during this challenging time.
Melinda is survived by her children, Shane Spire (son), Kayla Spire, and Destini Douglas (daughters); and her granddaughter, Elsie Spire. She is also survived by her brothers, Wade Jr., Jonathan, Austin, Nicholas, and Marcus Frye and her biological father, Stephen B. Cheek; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Marion Wade Frye Sr.; her sister, Jodie Frye; her cousin, Ashley McCormick; her beloved Granny, Barbara Watts; and friends Heatherleigh McLain, Amanda Peake, and "Tigger," along with the father of her children, Ian Kevin Spire.
The family requests that flowers and notes be sent to Caughman Harman Funeral Home.
A memorial service for Melinda will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Caughman Harman Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, South Carolina 29072.
Melinda will be profoundly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
