Manus loved the Lord and his family. He strived to be a good father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to read his Bible and firmly believed in prayer. He was of Pentecostal Holiness faith and, when able, attended the Lexington Church of God.
Manus is survived by his son, Doug Swords; his daughters, Jan (Glenn) Housand and Cindy Swords; his sister, Barbara Driver; four grandchildren, Kristi Housand, Daniel Swords, Holly (Nate) Stoll and April (Harry) Nesbit and five great grandchildren, Kristian Housand, Marilyn and Asher Ortman and Sophia and Grayson Nesbit.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Hawley Swords; his parents listed above; brothers, JD Swords, Gene Swords and sisters, Thierry Mae Swords, Helen Swords, Kathryn Clark and Anita Trussa.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, conducted by Pastor Mark Crumpton and Chaplain Chuck Byrd. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Graveside service will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Wilson, NC on Friday, August 19 at 2:00 pm.
