LEXINGTON – Lissa Pewitt Vickery died at home on Friday, January 20, 2012. Lissa was born on April 6, 1961. She was the oldest daughter of James and Carolyn Pewitt of Hixson, TN. Lissa and Kent began dating in high school and in their years together they made many special memories travelling, spending time at the lake and parenting their children; William Tomlin Vickery and Sarah Ann Vickery whom she deeply loved. She was the best big sister anyone could ever want and will always be loved and cherished by her siblings and their spouses; Kathy (Dave) Latondress of Murfreesboro, TN, Jeff (Karen) Pewitt of Maryville, TN and Julie (Chris) Armstrong of Ringgold, GA. She worked for several dentists in the twenty-five plus years she practiced, most recently Dr. Howell in Lexington. Her family is forever grateful for the love and support given by Dr. Howell and her staff to Lissa during her battle with cancer. Lissa enjoyed playing tennis, volunteer work (two organizations especially close to her heart were His House of Lexington and South Carolina Oncology Associates (SCOA) and just spending time in the company of family and friends. Lissa was a longtime member of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church and in her years there she taught Sunday School and helped lead her “Brunch Bunch”. Most recently Lissa and her family attended The Radius church. Her family appreciates the care and prayers of the members and pastoral staff of both churches. Her strong faith in God and her optimistic attitude were an inspiration to her family, friends and everyone with whom she came in contact. Lissa was a true blessing to her family and friends and left a huge imprint on each of us in the years we were blessed to have her in our lives. She will be greatly missed but we find great comfort in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I HAVE kept the faith. “ 2 Timothy 4:7.
