LEXINGTON – A Celebration of Life Service for Juanita Chaney Corley, 94, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Juanita was born on February 15, 1924 in Gaston, SC to the late Dan and Leila Chaney and passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Juanita retired from Lexington County School District One as the Dietitian for Lexington Elementary School after 29 years of service. She was a devoted member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church for 72 years. Juanita was a great family woman, devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She married Archie Lee on October 9, 1946. She was a social, active woman who was deeply involved in her family and church life. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and traveling. Her family and friends always remember her as an avid bingo player and a socializing and volunteering soul.
Juanita is survived by her daughter, Janice Corley Sanders (Bill); granddaughter, Ginger Sanders (Paula); grandson, Kevin Sanders (Jennifer) all of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Blythe Sanders; sisters, Lucille Fertick and Jessie Gibson of West Columbia, Katie (John) Wannamaker of Cayce; Chosen grandchildren, Robbie and Carissa Ellison (Colton and Victoria) and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Lee Corley; parents; sisters, Lessie Hallman, Louise Lee and brother, Tillman Chaney. The family would like to thank the staff and faculty of Colonial Gardens and Lighthouse Hospice for the love and care that was shown for Juanita better known as “Sweetie.”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Juanita’s name to the cemetery fund at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and/or Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation.
