Joe was born in Cleveland, OH and passed away in Lexington, SC. Joe graduated Lexington High School in 2009 and went on to receive his BA in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina in 2013.
Joe is survived by his mother, Kay Coughlin; brother, Tom (Ashley) Coughlin; and niece and nephew, Blake and Connor Coughlin. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Tim Coughlin. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, and had an amazing bond with many cousins across the country. Joe was an extremely loyal friend who will be dearly missed.
Joe was known in comedy and had a circle of fellow stand-up comics and fans. Joe was also a big gamer and would frequently spend hours with friends online. Testaments to Joe’s loyalty, kindness, welcoming reputation, and humor were shared upon news of his death. “He never had a negative word to say about anyone”; “He was as kind as he was funny”; “He was a big guy with a bigger heart”. His family continues to learn how many lives Joe touched as he traveled the comedy circuit. A particularly descriptive post: “You will leave a ‘Joe sized’ hole in our hearts”.
The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 at the Coughlin residence.
