SWANSEA - James M. Simpson, Jr. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born on September 7, 1942 in York County; he was the son of the late James Monroe Simpson, Sr. and Grace Collins Simpson.
He graduated from B.C. High School, attended Palmer Business College, and served in the S.C. National Guards at Fort Jackson. He retired after 32 years of state service, the latter being the Finance Director of Internal Operations at the S.C. Budget and Control Board. He served 40 years on committees and on the Board of Directors for the S.C. State Credit Union. Jimmy was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of Bible Study Groups, served as Deacon and Chaired a Stewardship Committee. Jimmy was a loving husband and father; he loved his church family at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, friends, Beagles and the simple pleasure of life.
He is survived by his wife, Ann G. Simpson and his children, Jason M. Simpson of Cayce, and Ashley (Chris) Singleton of South Congaree; grandchildren Taylor and Anna Grace Singleton; sister, Sue (Andy) Bair; nieces, Dawn Fertick and Kristi Roddey; sister-in-law, Peggy (Roger) Blile of Louisville, Ohio, and brothers-in-law, James (Sandy) Gibson of Palm Bay, Florida, Robert (Linda) Gibson of Louisville, Ohio and William (Darlene) Gibson of Morganton, NC.
A memorial service will be held by Rev. Josiah Mozzall, Saturday May 19, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church 1845 Cedar Creek Rd., Pelion, S.C. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
