Blaine Steven Newman was born in Tryon, NC, on February 11, 1961. Blaine graduated from Lexington High School in 1979. He later attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC, where he obtained his Associate’s Degree in Business Administration in 1999. Blaine was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He was also a scuba diving instructor and a nitrox certified diver.
Blaine Newman served as a Reserve Deputy with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department since November 10, 2010. As a Reserve Deputy, Blaine volunteered thousands of hours of service performing patrol and other law enforcement duties, all of which contributed to the safety of Lexington County citizens and the deputies with whom he served. The seal of the town of Lexington was designed by Blaine when he was in the 8th grade.
Mr. Newman was employed by the Mungo Company Homes for six years. His career in the construction industry also included employment with Essex Homes and TDS Telecom. While employed by Milcom in Guam, Blaine supervised the construction of facilities following destruction by super typhoon Pongsona in 2002. Before his time in Guam, Blaine worked at multiple North Carolina and South Carolina locations for ALLTEL.
Blaine Newman is survived by his father, A. Rex Newman of Gilbert; his sister, Wendy Culley of Lexington and niece, Ashley Osteen (Kaleb) of Gilbert. He was predeceased by his mother, Brenda Sims Newman and grandmother, Frances Edwards Sims.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
