Arthur V. Carter, Jr.

Arthur V. Carter, Jr., died Monday, December 12, 2022, after a long battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his loving children as he left this earth to be with his Lord. Artie was the son of the late Arthur V. Carter, Sr. and Jean Gunter of Lexington, SC (originally of Bokoshe, Oklahoma).

Artie loved many things, including fishing, Lake Murray, NASCAR, old Westerns, and his cowboy hats. But above all, he loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally.

He is survived by his children, Shanna Carter, Haylee Steele (Justin), and Ethan Carter (Tasha); his former spouse, whom he remained close with, Lydia Carter; and his siblings, Susan Davis (Rodney), and Frank Carter (Michelle). Artie was most proud to be Pops to his beautiful grandchildren, Vaida and Owen Carter, and Monroe Steele.

The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to Dr. Steve Madden and the staff at Lexington Oncology, the staff on the 6th floor North Tower at Lexington Medical Center, and Heart of Hospice for their care and devotion to our Dad.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington, SC.

In lieu of flowers, Dad has requested donations be made in his memory to the ASPCA, as he always had a tender and loving heart for all animals.
