Mr. Newman retired from ALLTEL after 35 years with the company and 46 years in the telephone business. During his career, he practiced what he preached and built a strong base of satisfied customers as well as community support through his participation in Rotary Club, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and the schools.
After retirement, he served twice as President of Lexington Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, but mostly spent time with his granddaughter going to barrel races and enjoying farm life. He was inducted into the Telephony Hall of Fame. His greatest joy in life was being a “Papa”.
Mr. Newman is survived by his daughter, Wendy N. Culley of Lexington; granddaughter, Ashley Osteen (Kaleb) of Gilbert and his beloved dog, Cowboy.
He was predeceased by his wife, Brenda Newman and son, Blaine Newman.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
