1928-2022
Lewiston – It is with great sadness that the family announces Roger Chamberland, 93, passed after a long illness on June 26th.
Born on June 30th, 1928, to Benjamin and Leona Bouchard Chamberland in Daigle, Maine, Roger began his work career at a young age. He spent 60 years working for F.X. Marcotte Furniture in Lewiston, starting as a truck driver and then installing floor coverings, which he also did as a side business. After retirement, he and his wife, Anita Gagne Chamberland, cleaned part-time at F.X. Marcotte.
Roger loved his family. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his friends and family, playing cards, woodworking, and was most known by those who knew him for being a jokester and playing pranks. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 73 years, whom he married on May 30th,1949.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, his daughter June Boisvert and her partner, Pete Bernier, his daughter-in-law, Claudette Jordan and her husband Michael, his grandchildren, Eric Boisvert, Melissa Lebrun and her husband, Shawn, Tammy Chamberland, Amy Nadeau and her husband Paul, his great-grandchildren, Oliver Boisvert, Maxwell Boisvert, Tom Murphy Jr., Dakota Lebrun, Brayden Deraps, Riley Deraps, Paul Nadeau Jr., Colby Nadeau, and Paige Nadeau.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Martin Chamberland, his sisters, Angeline Daigle and Rhoda Masselli, his beloved son, Gary Chamberland, and their dog Suzette.
We will always carry his memory in our hearts. The family gives special thanks to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for the care they provided.
A memorial visitation will be held in The Fortin Group Funeral Home, 70 Horton St. Lewiston, Friday, July 8 from 4-6 PM.
A funeral gathering will take place Saturday the 9th at 9 AM.
The service will begin at 9:30 AM here at the funeral home, followed by a burial ceremony at St. Peters Cemetery.
