He was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on February 28, 1935, a son to Preston and Cecile Whitmore.
Philip proudly served time with the US Army and fought in the Korean War.
He was married to Irene Rossignol on February 7, 1959 and the pair were happily married for nearly 66 years and had 7 children together. His family grew with 21 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
Philip was a dedicated, hardworking man and was very proud of being self employed. He loved to dance and hunt, but most importantly he loved his family and the life that he created for himself.
He was well known for being a joker and prankster but almost everyone knew him as the "Buckfield Bottle Man". He loved spending his days collecting bottles in town. His community adored him and watched over him. He touched many lives and was loved by everyone that knew him. He will be missed dearly and his impact on this world will never be forgotten.
Philip is the last of his Whitmore family, being predeceased by his parents, his 5 siblings and his beloved son Philip.
He leaves behind his wife Irene, his 6 children, his 21 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
A Visitation for Philip will take place on Wednesday, December 18 from 10AM to 12PM, with an in house Memorial Service at 12PM. A burial and Military Honors will take place at Damon Cemetery in Buckfield in the Spring.
