Irene Cote, 85 of Lewiston sadly left us on March 26, 2024. She was born on June 13, 1938 the daughter of Eugene and Irene (Begin) Cote. Irene attended St. Peter's Parochial School and later graduated from High School in Brookline, Mass.
She attended St Mary's School of Radiology, and upon graduation started her career at St Mary's Hospital in Lewiston as an X-ray and nuclear medicine technician. She also worked in the cobalt therapy, bone density and ultrasound departments. After her retirement, Irene worked part-time at an eye clinic and later as a pharmacy tech.
Irene was a devout Catholic and was deeply involved in her church community at Holy Family Church, volunteering for over 50 years.
She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Europe, the Caribbean and many road trips throughout the US and Canada. Irene is survived by a niece and nephew from North Carolina, cousins Mike and Beverly Parent, and her dearest friend and caretaker Dorea Fortier.
Irene leaves many friends especially the Fontaine, Landry and McClure families, Pauline Desjardins and LPD officer Gene Kavanaugh who were a great support during her time of need. Irene was predeceased by her parents, a brother Robert and his wife Geneva and many Aunts and Uncles.
On Friday, April 5th, the family will welcome visitors from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at The Holy Family Church, situated at 607 Sabattus Street, Lewiston, ME. Following the visitation, at 11:00 AM, The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in memory of Irene. After the service, friends and family are warmly invited to a gathering for fellowship at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home, located at 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston, Maine 04240
