Auburn, ME – Gardner F. Scanlon, 72, of Lewiston passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the Andwell Hospice House, with his son and former wife by his side. He was the former husband of Rosemary (Camire) Knight.
Gardy was born in Rumford, ME on February 25, 1952 the son of the late Gerard J. & Thelma L. (Field) Scanlon. He grew up in Auburn, attending local area schools and graduated from Edward Little High School. After high school he attended CMVTI to become an electrician.
He worked for Jones & Vining in Lewiston for decades, finishing his career at Titan Machinery. He enjoyed fishing, even in winter, and he hunted in his younger years. He loved the outdoors, especially snowmobiling. He also enjoyed racing, he was even on a pit crew at one point. Gardner also served as a softball coach for many years.
Besides his former wife of twenty years Rosemary, he is survived by his son Scott L. Scanlon and his granddaughter Adreyanna R. Scanlon both of Lewiston. He also leaves a sister Darlene Heikkinen and her husband Tom of Turner, ME as well as two nephews and two nieces.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
