William R. Howell William R Howell, of Langhorne, died peacefully Saturday December 3, 2011 at St. Mary Medical Center. Affectionately known as "Billy", he was born and raised in Johnstown, PA. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and subsequently moved to Baltimore Md. where he lived for 45 years and raised his family. He worked as a machinist for over 30 years, eventually retiring and moving to Langhorne. An exceptionally kind, unselfish and gentle man, Billy was quick witted and had a keen sense of humor. He was an avid card player and enjoyed pinochle games with his friends, the Oxford Valley Seniors, and the Parkway Seniors. He was predeceased by his two sons, Danny and David Howell. Mr. Howell was the beloved husband and "best buddy" of Nancy (Kerns) Howell with whom he had just celebrated 60 years of marriage in November. He also was the loving father of Cathy Barbaro and her husband Ray. He was a devoted grandfather to Shelby Jane Howell and Thomas Francis Barbaro, and great-grandfather to Leah Nicole. His endless patience made him a perfect grandfather and companion to his grandchildren. His sister, Mary Dalton, along with numerous nieces and nephews will miss him, yet will cherish their memories of him forever. All who crossed his path were touched by his kind and loving spirit. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd. Levittown where a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m.. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Billy's name to St. Mary's Regional Cancer Center, Langhorne Newton Rd. , Langhorne Pa. 19047 or to The Abramson Cancer Center, 3535 Market St. Suite 750, Philadelphia Pa. 19104.
