Tara was a fighter and one of the first words that would come to mind for anyone that knew Tara was “stubborn”. She was so stubborn that she lived long beyond her cancer diagnosis so she could spend more time with her children and partner of over 18 years, Ryan Aquitania.
Tara was born in Mount Holly, NJ on June 16, 1972 and attended Harry S. Truman High School in Levittown, PA. Tara leaves a legacy as a trivia master and leading expert in 80s song lyrics. She was a long time Blockbuster employee and movie aficionado. Her movie recommendations and influence have left a lasting impression on many.
A member of local Hoagie royalty, Tara worked for years at her uncle and Godfather Dennis Fink’s business, Fink’s Hoagies in Northeast Philadelphia. Despite being known as a picky eater, she was known for her baking and every family party included her famous butterscotch pie. Tara also had a reputation for her holiday decorating and would turn her home into a Christmas wonderland every year. She will especially be missed this holiday season.
Tara loved spending time at her family’s cabin in the Poconos while growing up and going to Point Pleasant Beach in NJ was one of her favorite pastimes. Her favorite hobbies were going thrift shopping and building puzzles, and almost always had one in progress when you visited her home. She was also an animal lover and rescued many cats and dogs over the years that needed a better home. She will be missed by her dog Molly, who she rescued when she first discovered her cancer diagnosis.
Most of all, Tara was a devoted mother and is survived by her three children, Natalie Morales (26), Alexander Aquitania (12), and Rylee Aquitania (11). Tara is also survived by her partner, Ryan Aquitania; her parents, Rick Sands & Donna Gene Fink; mother-in-law, Irene Aquitania; her siblings and their spouses Tracy Omrod (Tony), Grace Pagliaccetti (Frank), Lani Aquitania, Jeffrey Sands (Sue), Kelly Hansen (Kyle), and Allison Drinkwater (Roger); her Godson & nephew Jeremy Omrod; Godson Paul Scorzafava; and she was also a loving aunt to nieces and nephews; Francis, Rocky, Mila, and Nora. She will also be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tara’s memory at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home located at 2200 Trenton Rd, Levittown, PA 19056. Visitation Services are Friday, December 8, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. followed by a few words to honor Tara.
Tara’s children were her whole world and it broke her heart that she will not be there for so many of the milestones they have ahead. In lieu of flowers any memorial tributes are requested to be made to support Alex and Rylee’s future.
