Robert William Seip

In the early morning of Sunday, September 3, 2023, quite suddenly and peacefully, Robert “Bob” Seip passed away at his home in Levittown, PA.

Bob was born on Easter Sunday of 1943 in Elizabeth, NJ, to the late George F. and Mary (Sales) Seip. His father, George, died at Iwo Jima in 1945, and his mother eventually married the late Chester S. Kulesza.

Growing up in Iselin, NJ, Bob was a 1961 graduate of Woodbridge High School, Woodbridge, NJ, where he played football and participated in track, running hurdles. He was also a volunteer member of the Iselin First Aid Squad in his younger days.

Bob had several vocations through the years, including working for an auto parts store, selling insurance for Metropolitan Life, and working in the warehousing part of ETS (Educational Testing Service).

Bob worked to be able to spend time with his family, and to be able to participate in Barbershop singing, a lifelong passion he was introduced to while dating his first wife, Paula (Schuetz) Mitchell, who survives him, along with his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn (Seip) Lawson-Weingaertner and Robert Weingaertner, and his son, Robert Seip, Jr.

The choruses and quartets that Bob sang a cappella with are too numerous to mention individually, but he was very proud of being a founding member of the Deans of Harmony in Middlesex, NJ. He not only sang, he also directed, coached, held administrative offices, and won contests as a member of both choruses and quartets.

Bob married his second wife, Patti, who survives him, after they met at Parents Without Partners. Patti was a single mother of two sons, who also survive, Brandon Tomascik (Kathryn Szagola) and Kevin Tomascik (Danielle). Bob and Patti were married for 39 years.

Always ready with a story or a joke, Bob would grab the attention of those around him and laughter would surely follow. Bob enjoyed fishing, game nights, and spending time with his family and friends whenever he could.

Bob’s love of family was evident through his actions. Whether it involved dance recitals, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, sports, coaching a bowling team or little league for his children, or supporting thespian and other activities for his grandchildren, he was there. Bob made sure he was a part of their lives, and especially enjoyed sharing in their important milestones.

Bob is also survived by his grandchildren, Michaela Lawson-George (Micheal George), Lauren Lawson, Karl Weingaertner, Daniel Tomascik (Caroline Ehrenfeld), Samantha Tomascik, and Amber Szagola. His great-grandson, Kenneth Lawson, just celebrated his first birthday.

Bob’s brother, C.S. “Bud” Kulesza (Kathy), and his sister, MaryEllen Kulesza, also survive, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws who have shared his life.

Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, George and Madeleine (Bigelow) Seip Jr., and their daughter, Barbara (Seip) Larsen, and his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Kulesza) and George Buss Sr.

Bob will be greatly missed by those who loved him and those whose lives he touched in so many ways.

Many tears have been cried; the loss continues to be felt. Now the many grieving hearts have the opportunity to come together to celebrate the life of Bob Seip.
