Robert F. Orwig Robert F. Orwig died on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at his home in Levittown, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89. He was born and raised in Northumberland, PA, one of 11 children, to the late Charles and Margaret (Yoxtheimer). Robert was a man of many names. He was known to his friends simply as Bob, but within his family he wore many more hats. He was lovingly called Dad, Uncle, Grandpa, Pop, and to his Great Grandchildren, "Pop-Pop with the Hat." Throughout his life he lived up to these names with humble loving kindness, and more grace that one may typically encounter in someone. Throughout his life Robert chose many different paths to fulfill, which led him to be a strong, patient, wonderful human being. As a young man Robert was a Sergeant in the Army. Joining others in WWII as a Tank Commander. He eventually became a draftsman and pipe designer, working for Allstate engineering for the majority of his adult life. He always looked at his career with pride and it also provided the perfect means to support his growing family. Robert was an original Levittown home owner, buying his first home in Levittown in 1952. He resided in this home until his passing, and it provided a pivotal point for family gatherings, life and love. A dedicated husband, Robert was married to Gloria Ann Orwig for 48 years. Their marriage happily brought three children into this world who revered their parents. After many cherished years, and many grandchildren Robert found himself widowed. Always being a man of faith and love, he was blessed enough to find solace and companionship in his later years with a wonderful and lovely woman, the late Alma Cook. Robert's pride and joy was the family that he created and cherished with Gloria. But when he was not playing the role of Dad, or "Pop- Pop with the Hat" attending family dinners with a grandchild on his lap, you would most likely find him in his workshop building model airplanes, or gifts for his grandchildren. His livelihood was golfing and bowling with his dear friends who were dedicated to him throughout his entire life. Always a man of faith, Robert was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church. Prior to his passing, he was a member of Emmaus Road Lutheran Church. Robert's family feels so blessed that he was able to enjoy his hobbies and talents to the very end of his life. He was the strongest member of our family, who was someone who really knew the power of listening, existing as God's vessel, giving everyone a fair chance, and loving everyone equally. He was a Good Man. Robert is survived by his children, Richard L. (Michele) of Wyomissing, Robin Ann Zoretski (Edward) of Levittown and Beth Ann Bowe (Thomas) of Levittown; his 8 grandchildren, Daniel A., Peter M. John Robert Orwig, Lori Ann Lanscek (Tim), Julie Ann Capriotti (Michael), Michelle Ann Zoretski, Renee Ann and Jenna Ann Bowe; 9 great grandchildren, Connor, Ryan, Tyler Orwig, Jada Ann, Jason Michael Lanscek, Kaylie Ann, Alison Ann, Lauren Ann and Michael Blair Capriotti; his sister, Shirley Agee of Crofton, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Sunday, at 2:00 pm at Emmaus Road Lutheran Church, 2185 Bristol Oxford Valley Road, Levittown. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to the above church.
