Rev. John I. Itzen

Reverend John I. Itzen passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2017. He was 92 years old. Born in 1924, John was one of eleven children and was raised on an 800 acre farm near Herman, Minn. After graduating from New Brunswick Theological Seminary in 1953, John was a pastor in the Reformed Church in America for 33 years serving parishes in Garden City Park, NY; Readington, NJ; and Levittown, PA. John and his wife Lois were married in May of 1953. After retiring from the ministry in 1986, John served as an employee of Waddell and Reed Investment Company and also became a real estate agent with Century Twenty-One.John served his community in Levittown and surrounding area in many ways including serving as chaplain at Lower Bucks Hospital, delivering food to the homeless shelter, participating in Kiwanis Club, serving on the Truman High School Honors Committee, and membership in Levittown Ministries and Interfaith Housing Development Corporation.He is survived by his wife Lois, his sons Mark Itzen (wife Donna), Richard Itzen (wife Carey), and James Itzen (Donna McWilliams) as well as grandchildren Erik Itzen (wife Valerie), Greg Itzen (wife Diana), Matt Gura, Ashley Pierce (husband Kevin), Frank Gubala, Cuyler Itzen, and seven great grandchildren.Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church of Levittown, 5918 Emilie Rd, Levittown, PA 19057. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Chandler Hall Hospice, 99 Barclay St., Newtown, PA 18940.
