Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Lower Bucks County his entire life, residing in Fairless Hills for the past 29 years with the love of his life, his late wife Doris, who sadly passed in July 2023. Joe proudly served in the US Navy, and was was a machinist until he retired.
Joseph and Doris were avid campers and travelers. In addition to traveling and camping he enjoyed sitting outside on his patio watching the birds and rabbits and assisting Doris with her love of gardening. Joe cherished his grandchildren and especially his great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him GGPop, always making sure he had their favorite flavor of ice cream on hand to make them ice cream cones whenever they visited.
Preceded in death by beloved wife, Doris Elaine Wilt (nee Ashton); his daughter, Belinda Ann Mayger; his parents Richard C. and Helen Wilt; three brothers and a sister; Joseph is survived by his children, Margaret Fantini (Larry), Joseph Wilt, Paul Wilt, and Pamela Sabella (Joe); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial with Navy Honors will follow at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, 1215 Super Highway, Langhorne, Pennsylvania 19047.
