Joseph A. Bush Jr., of Langhorne died on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. Mary Medical Center. He was 63. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Bush has resided in Langhorne since 1972. He was a 1967 graduate of Olney High School and went on to learn his trade at the Philadelphia Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship School. He furthered his education at Drexel University, Spring Garden College and Temple University. After college, Joe started his career as a union carpenter with Local #454 and was the owner and operator of CBJ Builders for 18 years. He later spent 20 years working for the County of Bucks holding various titles throughout his career. He was also the building inspector for Langhorne Manor Boro and was on the Industrial Board in Harrisburg for several years. Joe served as a republican committee man serving on numerous boards including the Middletown Township Zoning Board. He also served on the the Middletown Water and Sewer Board, the Langhorne Gardens Civic Association and the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow. He was an avid Eagles fan and enjoyed collecting Lionel trains. He was a Beach Boys fanatic and loved to play the drums. Those who knew Joe knew he loved to dance to the "YMCA" and the "Alley Cat". Most of all, Joe looked forward to the memorable yearly family vacations to the Outer Banks, North Carolina and Florida. Joe was the beloved husband of Cathy L. (Strike) Bush for 42 years. He was the loving father of Cathy Jo Wright (Paul), BettyJo Bush and Joseph A. Bush III and was the devoted grandfather of Jason, Rachel, Derek, Malerie and Joseph IV. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Linda Coyle, brother-in-law Robert Strike, many nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph A. Sr and Caroline (Inverso) Bush, his sister Dorothy Capone and his brother-in-law Joseph Strike. Family and friends are invited to call from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday and 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Monday at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his funeral service will be held on Monday at 12 noon. Interment is private.
