John J. Wurtz Sr. John J. "Jack" Wurtz Sr., of Levittown died on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at his home. He was 89. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Wurtz was an original Levittown homeowner. He was employed at the Frankford Arsenal for over 25 years until retiring in 1976. Mr. Wurtz was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph the Worker Council #4215 and the St. John Neumann Assembly. He was also a member of Immaculate Conception parish. He was a former Boy Scout leader with Troop #123. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Wurtz was the beloved husband of Eleanor R. Wurtz (nee Tweed) for over 65 years. He was the loving father of Peggy Boudin and her husband Jacques of Warminster, John J. Wurtz Jr. and his wife Anna of Langhorne, Eleanor Cloak and her husband William of Levittown, Philip Wurtz and his wife Ruth of Burke, VA, Nancy Steigler of Allentown, Michael Wurtz and his wife Diane of Levittown and Brian Wurtz and his wife Liz of Levittown. He will also be sadly missed by 14 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; his sister, Betty Martin; his brother, Robert Wurtz and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 1:00 too 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church followed by Rite of Committal in Resurrection Cemetery.
