John J. Gibson, Sr. died at his home in Levittown on Thursday, November 4, 2010. He was 74. Mr. Gibson was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Francis D. and Elizabeth (Johanson) Gibson and has been a resident of Falls Township for 51 years. He served in the US Navy from 1954 until 1958 and was a supervisor for 3M in Bristol for 31 years. Mr. Gibson loved golfing, fishing, fixing things around the house, shopping and doing things with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed word search puzzles, oldies music and western movies. He was an avid sports fan who loved all the Philly teams. Beloved husband of the late Alice May (Carman), he was the loving father of Alice and Jon Curley of Morrisville, John J. Gibson, Jr. and Cindy Martell of Langhorne, James and Deborah Gibson of Yardley, Matthew and Donna Gibson of Boiling Spring, SC, Timothy and Buffy Gibson of Levittown and Michael and Kelli Gibson of Levittown and his adopted son William Curley and Barb of Eastampton, NJ, the devoted grandfather of Hannah, Sarah, Jon, Cassandra, John, Alexander, Zachary, Megan, Kaitlyn, Michael, Kyle, Christopher, Madison, Carly, Joshua and Jenna and the doting great grandfather of Hayden. He will also be sadly missed by his brother Frank and his wife, Betty; his sisters, Elizabeth Gibson, Maralyn Barney and her husband, William and Kathleen Sporer and her husband, Tom; his sisters-in-law, Elaine Gibson, Anna May Albright and her husband, Ned, Selma Hall, Claire Bannon and her husband, Tom, Lorraine Wallick, Rebecca Fox and her husband, George and Jennie Webb and her husband, Ritchie ; longtime family friend Jim Mayger and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, 7:00 until 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, 8:30 until 9:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 am at Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Fallsington. Rite of Committal will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
