Dorothy V. Olshefskie Dorothy V. Olshefskie passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at her daughter Joy's home in Yardley, Pennsylvania at the youthful age of 90. She succumbed to complications of heart failure. Beloved wife of the late Daniel S., Mrs. Olshefskie is the loving mother of Judith Giacobbe (Scott) of Wernersville, Pennsylvania, Joy Laderman (Hugh) of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and Dorothy Brennan (David) of Wayne, Pennsylvania and London, United Kingdom. She is the devoted grandmother of Daniel Giacobbe, Kristen Honeybone (Robert), Mark Laderman (Allison), Robert Laderman, Jean Miller (Adam), Kelly Keane (Brian), David Brennan (Amy), and Kaitlyn Brennan and great grandmother of Logan and Gina Honeybone, Mia and Jack Laderman, Abigail, Nathaniel and Sarah Miller, Julia and Matthew Keane, and Eric Brennan. She was preceded in death by seven siblings. Born and raised in Coal Township, (Shamokin) Pennsylvania, Dorothy was formerly of Norwood, Pennsylvania and Norristown, Pennsylvania. She retired to Venice, Florida to enjoy twenty happy years with her husband. A secretary for 15 years for the former American Bank in Norristown, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Olshefskie also was a well-loved and devoted employee for 15 years for the East Norriton Township office. She was an official at numerous Suburban Division I swimming competitions in the 1960's and was very involved with the Penn Square Swim Club and YWCA of Norristown and Philadelphia. Mrs. Olshefskie enjoyed crocheting, singing with the church choirs, and many parenting and grandparenting activities. Her three daughters and their families were the focus of her life. She will be remembered as a very positive, strongly determined, enthusiastic, and charismatic woman. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Dorothy was a "World War II Honoree." Her activity for government service included an agent at the Office of Price Administration and Manager of the United Service Organization (USO). She also was recognized for donating one gallon of blood per month. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where her Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Primitive Methodist Church, 30 North Seventh Street, Shamokin, Pennsylvania 17872 would be appreciated.
