Diane was born on December 17th, 1957 in Levittown, PA to the late Josephine and Elmer Glaum and was one of six children. She graduated with a Nursing Degree from Trenton State College (now College of New Jersey) and went on to earn her Master's degree in Nursing Science. Being a nurse was much more than a job title for Diane. Starting as a nurse's aide at 14, she found her calling in caring for others which she did with skill, patience, and love. Diane spent her life's work dedicated to serving in some capacity whether it was patient care or nursing education. She worked as a nurse in home care for more than 25 years at Delaware Valley and Lower Bucks Hospital, as a nursing educator at Holy Family University, and later at the Philadelphia Corporation for the Aging.
Diane was married to her husband, the love of her life, James Devlin Jr, for 43 years and had two daughters, Monica Wilkerson (Caleb Wilkerson) and Derilyn Freeman (Oliver Freeman).
Diane also adored Jim's oldest daughter, Karen Carew (Joe Carew), like her own. Diane was predeceased by her siblings Dennis, Kenneth, and Linda Glaum. She is survived by her two younger brothers, Brian and Bill Glaum. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Jim Haus, Eric Haus, Jill (Haus) Watkins, Greg Meisinger, Jim Fedirko Jr., Elise (Glaum) Crockett, and Alex Glaum. Diane loved her grandchildren with all her heart and is survived by her grandsons Bryant Carew, Nolan Carew, Cameron Wilkerson, & Dean Wilkerson.
Diane was a passionate member of her church and enjoyed teaching children in youth group and Sunday school, participating in bible study, singing along with her favorite worship music, and spending time in prayer. She also was a theater enthusiast and loved being a dance, theater, softball & soccer mom for her girls. She was a voracious reader with an extensive home library and encouraged her daughters and all of their friends to be life-long learners.
Diane was also famous for her water ballet moves that she learned as little girl and continued performing throughout her life whenever she found herself in a pool. She felt most free in the water, especially on the beach near the ocean. To know Diane was to laugh with Diane. She had a strong and large circle of loving friends turned family who will continue to cherish the many shared memories of life and laughter.
A memorial service will be held for Diane on Monday, September 13th at 6:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Levittown at 5918 Emilie Road, Levittown PA 19057. Anyone who loved Diane is welcome to join us. We ask that please bring face masks.
