David T. (Dave) Rappe, Sr., of Levittown, Pa, sadly passed away on January 5, 2023 with his loving wife and daughter by his side.Dave was born in Warren PA to proud parents, Eugene and Evelyn Rappe. He was the eldest child in the family and role model to his younger brother Dennis. In 1954, the family relocated to Levittown, PA where Dave graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1964. It was there, one special day in the school hallway where he met the love of his life, Dorothea (Dottie) Edmond. It was love at first sight, they locked eyes and haven't looked away since. Shortly after graduation, Dave was drafted by the U. S. Army. He bravely and honorably served his country in the Vietnam War from 1966-1967. Dave served with 9th Infantry Division, and attained the rank of Sergeant. He engaged in combat and earned medals as an Expert (Rifle M16), Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14,) as well as the Army Commendation Medal.Throughout his time in the service Dave and Dottie's love never wavered and upon his return from the war, Dave and Dottie married on June 8, 1968. They raised 2 children, David Jr. and Dawn. They were happily married for 54 wonderful years.Dave supported his family by working for the US Postal Service as a post man for 42 years. Earning awards excellence in service and 25 years of safe driving. During his long career he maintained a daily route in which he befriended many people and dogs in the neighborhood. In addition to his service to his community as a post man, he coached soccer and little league. Those who knew Dave adored him for his humbleness, kindness, generosity, and patience. He was always willing to lend a hand. His motto in life was "Go with the flow" which was exemplified by his quiet strength and calming nature. He enjoyed attending parties with family and friends, travelling, the Pittsburgh Steeler's, working on his home, and his pet dog's Misty and Critter. Most of all, his greatest joy in life was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son who was forever constant regardless of the cause. His unconditional love is something his family will cherish forever.Dave was preceded in death by parents, Eugene and Evelyn Rappe; and his brother, Dennis Rappe.He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothea Rappe; his son, David Rappe Jr., and his wife Bridget Rappe; his daughter, Dawn Sarno, and her husband Louis Sarno; his grandchildren, Codey Rappe, Casey Rappe, Kaden Rappe and Lucas Sarno; his great-grandchild Braelyn; and extend family and friends. The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023, from 10 am until 11:45 am, at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:45 am. Interment will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery with military honors at 1pm.
