Darlene J. Hay, of Yardley, died on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Hospital. She was 58. Born in Bluefield, West Virginia, Darlene formerly resided in Trenton, NJ where she graduated from Trenton High School in 1971. She has resided in Lower Bucks County for the past 35 years. Darlene was employed as a customer service representative with Acme Markets in Newtown for 27 years. She attended Queen of the Universe Church. She was a huge sports fan especially the Eagles and Phillies and she also enjoyed golfing at the Bensalem Country Club. Darlene was the beloved wife of Donald F. Hay for nearly 24 years. She was the loving mother of Charles Mertz III and his wife Norma Jean of Quakertown, Joseph Mertz and his wife Angie of Orlando, FL and Melissa Mertz of Bensalem. She was the stepmother of Jennifer Duffield and her husband Stew of Yardley, Jeffrey Hay of Newtown and Jamie Hay and his wife Jill of Morrisville, She was a devoted grandmother of 12. Darlene was the sister of Sheila Solarski and her husband William of Hamilton, NJ, Clarann Lasher of Fairless Hills, Roger Bucchi of Fairless Hills and Curtis Bucchi of Hamilton, NJ. She will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews including Jordan Lasher and Kim Phriodha. Darlene's family will be receiving guests from 6 until 10 p.m. on Tuesday at Kasdon's Restaurant, 8736 New Falls Rd., Levittown where a memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at www.mrtz.us/darlenehay
