Daniel J. Murphy

Daniel J. Murphy passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia at the age of 64.Born in New York City, son of Daniel B. Murphy and the late Veronica (Sweeney) Murphy, Daniel has been a life long resident of Lower Bucks County. He was a 1971 graduate of Pennsbury High School and a member of the 1974-1976 Bridesburg Eagles semi-pro football team.For 15 years, Dan was the owner/operator of Murphy's Beef and Ale in Levittown. Beloved husband and best friend of 34 years to Sherida (Klemmer), Dan is the loving father of Daniel (Sherry) and Ryan Murphy, and grandfather to Meghan and Mason. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he enjoyed spending time with them, especially at the beach.He is the brother of Theresa DiGiovanna (the late Jack), Maureen Murphy, Kathleen Murphy and Nora Bodine (David).Dan will also be sadly missed by his loving family that extends to aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, and so many wonderful friends that it would be impossible to count. His employees were a group that he was proud to consider his team.Family and friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, July 16 at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
