Cynthia Walton of Bensalem, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones following a brief illness on Saturday, February 25, 2017. She was 62.Cindy was the angel of her family. She was a generous and loving person whose beauty of soul touched those close to her and those she encountered in her career as a registered nurse, as a neighbor and as a friend.She was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1954, second child of Robert E. and Lenore Shrift, and lived for many years in Morrisville, where her family moved in 1962. Cindy attended Holy Trinity School in childhood, graduated in 1972 from Bishop Conwell High School and in 1975 from the Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton, New Jersey.Shortly thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart, Milton S. "Bud" Walton 3rd of Levittown, and several years later, the two became the parents of a much-loved son, Zachary Ryan. Bud and Zack were the great joys of her life and she was utterly devoted to their health and happiness. She and Bud celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in July.Over a long career, Cindy served as a hospital staff nurse at Lower Bucks Hospital and as a visiting nurse with Holy Redeemer HomeCare in Philadelphia. At the time of her death she still received Christmas cards from the children of former patients, though she had for years worked in the offices of the home care division as its infection control specialist and educator. Cindy was called upon to speak at conferences in her area of expertise, memorably addressing a group at the Union League in Philadelphia on one occasion.In her free time, Cindy loved nothing better than visiting Long Beach Island with Bud, Zack and a crew of young friends of her son. Many summer, fall and winter holidays also were spent in Beach Haven with her parents, siblings and their children. She enjoyed the annual Chowderfest on LBI from the first year it was held until last October, when she and Bud were on the island for a week with Zack, her beloved daughter-in-law, Jenn Seabold Walton, and grandson, Ryan, whom she adored, and her sisters and nephews.Cindy was preceded in death by her father, who passed away in 2004. She is survived by her mother, three sisters, Gwen of Lower Makefield, Margaret Vasil of Bordentown Township, New Jersey, Liz Riegel of Lambertville, New Jersey, and a brother, Barry, of Millersville, Pennsylvania; a niece, Robyn Fanelli of Foxboro, Massachusetts and her son, Mason, nephews Joe Shrift of Wilmington, North Carolina, Jim Vasil and Jon Vasil of Bordentown Township, and Ken Riegel and Jesse Riegel of Lambertville. Also survived by brother-in-law Jim Walton and a niece, Jillian Walton, both of Levittown. Cindy also has aunts, uncles and many cousins across the United States, most living in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania, where her funeral service will be held at 11 am.. Cindy will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, near her home in Bensalem.
