Ron Carden

Funeral Services for Ron Carden, 70, of Levelland, will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Levelland with Rev. Canon David Veal officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery, Levelland, Texas. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Ron died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Lubbock.

Born on September 28, 1942 in Lamb County, Texas to Johnnie and Ruby A. (Ellis) Carden, he was a longtime resident of the South Plains. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech and then went on to receive his Master’s and PhD from the University of New Mexico. Ron joined the faculty of South Plains College, Levelland 43 years ago and was the chairman for the Social Science Department for the last 8 years. He married Cynthia Jane Waller and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2006. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his daughter: Laura Carden and many close friends at South Plains College.
