Ella Mae Burnett of Sundown passed from this life on April 28th, 2013 in Levelland, TX. Joey Pierce will officiate the services at George Price Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland on Wednesday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m., with burial following in the City of Sundown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at George Price Funeral Home .
Ella was born to Elmer and Maude Giddens in Haskell, TX on February 11, 1932. She grew up in Haskell and Sundown, attending Sundown High School and later South Plains College. Ella loved to roller skate and often worked at the local movie theater. She also worked in a record store, waitressed, ran the Beehive Hobby and Gift shop and created crafts and jewelry for KK’s Krafts.
Ella married Alton Eugene Burnett on December 23,1950 in Sundown, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as nine beloved brothers and sisters;Teddy Egan Giddens, Ada Herron, Eargle Verron, Elmer (Blue) Giddens, Wilmer (Jack) Giddens, Arthur Giddens, George (Ray) Giddens, Beryl Hendrix, and Bob Giddens.
Ella is survived by her husband of 62 years, as well as children Eddie and Vicki Burnett of Houston, Danny and Traci Burnett of Sundown, Steve and Melissa Burnett of Sanger, Donna and Tony Dill of Brownfield, and Debbie Gillespie of Lubbock. Grandma Burnett is also survived by 10 cherished grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ella was a long time member of Sundown United Methodist Church. Many years ago she wrote articles for the Hockley County News Press. She was famous for her handmade Christmas yard decorations. She was our loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed
