Treva Jean Pitts Helms, 61, of Lenoir passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at her residence, while surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Helms was born March 5, 1956 to Henry William Pitts of Lenoir and Mildred Elizabeth Sumlin of Hudson.
She was a loving and dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Treva worked at Broyhill Furniture for over 35 years, and was a native of Caldwell County, having lived here her whole life. She enjoyed working with flowers, watching hummingbirds each spring and summer. Treva loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Gordon Helms of the home, daughter, Lynn Miller of Hudson, son, Michael Pearce and wife Melissa of Hudson, grandson , Michael D. Pearce of Hudson, granddaughters, April Miller of Lenoir, Alicia Miller of Lenoir, great-granddaughters, Chloe and Raelynn Wilborn of Lenoir, sisters, Debbie Lane and husband Greg of Morganton, Becky Detter and husband Buddy of Granite Falls, Jan Ezell of Morganton, Betty Smith and husband Brian of Hudson, brothers, Darrell Pitts and wife Joanie of Lenoir, William Pitts of Lenoir, nephews, Derek Lane of Morganton, Billy and Bobby Detter of Granite Falls, Zachary Smith of Hudson, Nick, Cameron, Henry and William Pitts, all of Lenoir, her favorite niece, Ally Smith of Hudson and numerous cousins and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Detter, Nick Pitts, Darrell Pitts, Grayson Helms, Calvin Harrison and Isaiah Helms.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that each spring or summer, that you plant some flowers, (her favorite color was pink) and put out a hummingbird feeder. Remember Treva in the beauty of the flowers and birds
