Ruth Pritchard Johnson

Our precious mother went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 8, 2015. There, she was reunited with her husband, the love of her life, John D. Johnson, her parents, sisters and brother who went on before her. What a joyous reunion as they welcomed Mom to her heavenly home. She passed away two days before her 86th birthday.

Mrs. Johnson 85, of Lenoir, was born in Pemberton, WV on December 10, 1929 to the late Jack Pritchard and Retha Wills Pritchard. She was retired from American Efird Mills, and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Whitnel First Baptist Church and led youth groups in bible drill competitions; she loved her church family and served in the food ministry there also.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John D. Johnson, brother, Bill Pritchard, sisters, Helen Haynes, Wanda Ritch and Betty Duncan.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son John D. Johnson Jr (Johnny) and wife Carol of Lenoir; daughters, Barbara J. Weeks and husband Wayne of Granite Falls and Brenda J. Wilson and husband Terry of Maiden; She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Eddie Braswell, Jeremy Saunders, Joshua Saunders, Jonathan Johnson, Cindy Wolfe, Michael Brewer, Christa Weeks, Jeffrey Weeks and Tyler Wilson, and seven great grandchildren, Zachary Braswell, Penelope Saunders, Beatrice Saunders, Brodie Weeks, Nicholas Wolfe, Gage Wolfe, Maya Wilson, brothers, Jack Pritchard Jr. and wife Wanda of Lenoir, Curtis Pritchard and wife Mina of Lenoir, Tommy Pritchard and wife Thelma of Lenoir, Sisters, Patty P. Parham and husband Raydee of Granite Falls, Daphney P. Weaver and husband Paul of Granite Falls, Eleanor P. Hollar and husband Roger of Lenoir, Lora P. Davis and husband Hobie of West Jefferson.

Services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Whitnel First Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Hedgecock and Reverend Stuart White. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Saunders, Joshua Saunders, Eddie Braswell, Jonathan Johnson, Chad Brown and Kevin Pritchard. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Brewer and Jerry Wolfe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Whitnel First Baptist Church Food Pantry at PO Box 2999 Lenoir, NC 28645 or to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
