Born November 7, 1949 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late James Arby Hendrix and Vera Jean Witherspoon Hendrix.
Preceding her in death was her parents, and one sister, Donice Oliver.
Mrs. Hayes alongside her husband, Elder Robert Lee Hayes, founded Chesterfield Church of God, Inc. She assisted her husband in the pastoral duties and was known for being a great cook as she used this talent as a ministry to others. She also played piano and was a soloist.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Elder Robert Lee Hayes, of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Hope Hayes Morrow and husband Jasper Morrow and Roslyn Lea Hayes Isbell and husband Elder George Isbell, all of Lenoir; one sister, Olivia Banner, and six grandchildren, William D. Hayes, ShaMaria N. Hayes, Anthony T. Isbell, Trinity R. Hayes, Azyah J. Isbell, and Yvonne G. Hayes; a special aunt Ruth Wells and aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Bishop Joe Gray presiding, Bishop Shawn Hooper, Elder George Isbell, Overseer Romey Patterson, and Bishop R.C. Bryant, Eulogist. The family will speak to friends following the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Hayes, Tracey Hayes, Chris Hendrix, Timothy Witherspoon, William Oliver, Jr., Ricky Adams, and Jasper Morrow.
