Peggy Craig Jenkins, 86 of Lenoir, passed away following a period of declining health on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.
Mrs. Jenkins was born July 26, 1931 in Guilford County to the late Zebulon Vance Craig and Mary Ethel Clarke Craig.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Howard Jenkins.
Mrs. Jenkins was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated member of College Avenue Baptist Church and served in numerous ways in her church. Peggy was in the church choir, played piano, served as church secretary and was involved in the WMU. Peggy was employed for the Law Firm of Groome Tuttle Pike and Blair for numerous years. In her free time, she loved to read, sew, cross stitch, but her true passion was her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, David Jenkins and wife Tania of Atlanta Georgia, daughter, Becky J. Stevens and husband Jerry of Lenoir, grandchildren Brandi Pennell and husband Jason of Lenoir, Jordan Jenkins of St. Petersburg, FL, Joshua Jenkins, both of Atlanta Georgia and one great grandchild, Carson Pennell.
A Funeral Service to honor Mrs. Jenkins will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at College Avenue Baptist Church with Reverend Chuck Brawley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Pennell, Rob Lane, David Jetton, Mike Lutz, Mike Suddreth and Marc Suddreth.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 am until 11:45 am.
